This course is
for engineers and system integrators who require improved continuity
and availability on navigation and timing applications. The course
starts with an overview of eLoran and its error sources. Discusses
integration with GNSS, and receiver architectures. Describes the
Eurofix and 9th Pulse eLoran data broadcast systems. The course
concludes with some results in Harbor Entrance Approach and timing
tests. |

e-Loran Overview
• Why eLoran when there is GNSS?
• Signal format and transmitter chain structure
• 'Eurofix' and '9th Pulse' eLoran data broadcast systems
• Standardization
|
| |
Error Budget
• Transmitter power, and received eLoran and interference signal
levels
• Far-field propagation, ionosphere, parameter errors in ASF and
ionosphere models
• Near-field phase disturbances
• E-field and H-field receiver antennae
• Locally generated noise, including precipitation |
| |
|
GNSS versus eLoran
• Availability of signals at user antenna
• Accuracy of signals at user antenna
|
| |
|
Level:
A basic knowledge of radio navigation/communication and of signals
is assumed. |
