The
LandStar System
LandStar-DGPS is a
satellite delivered GPS correction service providing 24 hour accurate and
reliable real time precise positioning on land and in the air in over 40
countries.
With a series of reference stations throughout the world working through
the company's 24 hour manned control centers, LandStar-DGPS represents the
most extensive wide area DGPS network operating today.
LandStar-DGPS broadcasts DGPS correction data to users via the L-Band
satellites. The system operates on a common global standard allowing
LandStar receivers and those that are compatible to operate on any of the
LandStar networks world-wide.
Corrections are derived from a wide-area network solution, assuring
LandStar users of a robust and highly redundant service. This allows
real-time positioning accuracies of one meter or less to be achieved
throughout the LandStar coverage areas.
A broad range of data receivers are offered by Thales and by third-party
vendors, giving users flexibility in choosing a system to meet specific
requirements.
LandStar-DGPS applications cover a diverse range of businesses including
survey and mapping, agriculture, natural resources, land management,
utilities, pipeline transmission, engineering, land and air navigation and
positioning.
The LandStar MkIV receivers are
produced by Racal Survey for use with its international LandStar differential GPS
networks. The receivers are available in two configurations designed to meet a wide range
of applications. Low power requirements make them easily "backpackable."
- They are compatible with industry
standard differential GPS formats and can be interfaced with the users
existing GPS
receiver.
- GPS
receiver and DGPS correction data receiver all-in-one
- Flexible
system configurations support a wide range of application.
- Easily
interfaced to data loggers, chart plotters, precision ag systems, and other devices using
NMEA-0183 protocols
- Compatible
with all international LandStar DGPS network services (additional subscription fees apply)
- Automatic
operation, no user intervention needed
- Low 4.5w
power requirements
- Faster,
less expensive, and requires less training than many post processing systems
Two receiver models are available,
depending on the level of performance required. The MkIV Navigator features a Trimble SK8
GPS receiver, yielding position accuracies in the 2 meter range or better. The
MkIV
Surveyor features an Ashtech G-12Lite GPS receiver that gives sub-meter position
accuracies. The receivers will produce both a differentially corrected position and an
RTCM correction for use with an external GPS receiver if desired.
Data Collection
in Real-Time!
Landstar offers real-time accuracies which were once possible only with systems requiring
post-processing of DGPS base station and rover files. Because it's real-time, and uses
standard NMEA 0183 data sentence outputs, you can use it in a wide variety of data
collection, GIS, and mapping software environments.
